We know that some of our customers like to decorate and paint the chests with various colors, rather than stain.

And we have learned from our customers, over time, that the knots and resin of the white pine wood that we typically use will bleed through the paint eventually.

So...we would suggest that we use a cabinet grade tight laminated wood for those who will paint instead of stain. The chests would then also come with a smooth front, rather than the "slat" look of  the pirate chests and would have a smooth top to accommodate stenciling or decal work.

 

 

This Unfinished Treasure Chest measures 18" wide, 14" tall (with feet) and 11" deep (front to back).

It is completly assembled, ready for you to sand and can be ordered  with a 1/2 tray that is used to store small items.

The chest is made of USA White Pine and Imported Birch by Amish Tradesmen in Ohio.

The lid is held open with a brass plated chain and it is fitted with brass plated hinges.

The domed top is standard.

 

You can choose from a selection of handles in the options.

 

Don't forget to choose the HideAway Kit. The HideAway is a false bottom that has a finger hole for removal. The really neat thing about it is that you can adjust the level of the bottom so that you can hide larger items. 

And if you want to secure your Chest you have a choice of: Black Hasp and Steel Padlock, Rusty Hasp and Rusty Padlock or a Brass Latch.

Also, you can decorate your chest with a piece of felt cut to size so that you can paste it onto the Free HideAway false bottom. Simply use some spray glue to fasten the felt and then trim to size.

 

And the decals are self stick and are easy to install.
